It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out the matter.Proverbs 25:2

hmmm...

well...15 days until Christmas!!!! That is something to celebrate!

I love this time of year....hot chocolate, singing, sweaters, scarves, mittens, movies, lights, trees, LOVE

I just watched Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire, and yes, I cried/laughed/sighed/laughed/wished/cried throughout the whole thing.  Its a classic....why don't people dance like that in movies anymore?  I love old movies because they're so pure.  You don't have to watch it with one eye open fearing the next scene will be.....uncomftorable.  People express their emotions in singing and dancing while staring into one another's eyes...::::sigh::::....beautiful.

I babysat a puppy today.  A puppy who thought it would be nice to poop/barf in her crate this morning.  gross.

I'm in love

with

HIM!

And its beautiful.

hmmm....go outside and look at the stars....if you can't see them, come to my house.  I think God put more stars in my patch of sky than He did in yours

idiots....

I am by NO means a perfect person.  I am clueless about many things and daily say ridiculous things.  But there is one thing I hate with utmost VEHEMANCE:

People who state myths as facts and quote the Bible ABSOLUTELY out of context.

Now, I am guilty of doing these things, but these people are ridiculous...gosh.  Humans are idiots, and an idiot who thinks he's intelligent is even worse.  This applies to Christians and non-Christians.  What's worse is that I am no better than them.  That's hard to swallow.

Why does He love such unworthy beings?  I suppose I'll never know why, but in the meantime I need to learn how to love people better and be humble.  Yelling at a computer screen is definitely not an intelligent thing to do : ) Proverbs is the place to go in these moods.....

Righteous anger is completely ok.

"Is wearing fur inhumane?"....what do you think?

So.....I VOTED ON TUESDAY!!! I told the little lady who signs you in it was my first time and she proceeds to let the entire building know:

"Walter, did you hear her? Its her first time!"

"We've got a new one here!"

"How old are you sweet thing?"

"Are you nervous?" (why would I be nervous?)

.....ahhh, the joys of living in a small town.  So I managed the little screen and was in and out of there in a minute.  I don't understand why people take forever to cast their vote.  You really should resolve who and what you're going to vote for before you step in the little box....not afterwards.

Was your first time voting as "embarrassing" as mine?

So Tuesday was the highlight of my week: voted, then Switchfoot.  One word -- amazing.  The best I've ever seen.  I'm going every year now : )

Now lets pray I fight off this cold that's hanging over me.

In honor of the looming elections........

God, Give Us Men!

Josiah Gilbert Holland

God, give us men!  A time like this demands

Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands;

        Men whom the lust of office does not kill;

Men whom the spoils of office cannot buy;

        Men who possess opinions and a will;

Men who have honor; men who will not lie;

        Men who can stand before the demagogue

        And damn his treacherous flatteries without winking!

Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog

        In public duty and in private thinking;

For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds;

Their large professions and their little deeds,

Mingle in selfish strife, lo!  Freedom weeps,

Wrong rules the land and waiting Justice sleeps.

books books books!

I think Neal's timing is great on this whole book list thing.  Today in church Pastor Nate talked about how successful people are lifelong learners.  They are always expanding their knowledge by reading, listening, taking notes, etc.  So it was encouraging to hear that since I've been feeling impatient with school and other things lately.

And here's a thought: a movie list like this would be cool to do also

1. Changed your life: two books that I read entirely while in Colombia last year: The Sacred Romance by John Eldredge and the Bible (I had never read it straight through before)
2. Read more than once: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, when I was 12
3. Want on a desert island: the Bible and How to Survive on a Desert Island
4. Made you laugh (giggle): The Devil Wears Prada (definitely would not recommend it but it made me laugh)
5. If you’ve seen the movies or plays, the book is hilarious: The Firm
6. Made you cry: Ishmael by E.D.L.N. Southworth (I was seriously in mourning the day after I read it)
7. Wish had been written: more books by Jane Austen
8. Wish had never been written: none that I can think of
9. Currently reading: Persuasion by Jane Austen, a book by a Russian defector, Tortured for Christ by Richard Wurmbrand, and of course my Biology and Political Science textbooks
10. Fact or fiction: both, depends on my mood
11. Awesome book that is empowering me: The Universe Next Door.....Amy listened patiently to me all this summer as I rambled on about it
12. Meaning to read: Captivating is the next one on my long list
